Welcome to The Draking Point >>, where my opinion costs 2 cents and all the outrage is manufactured in the USA!

Emissions Standards: The Global Siege on America >>

08/06/2009

The Liberals, the Greens, and the Radical Left’s feel-good ideas on castrating the industrial machine are reckless and downright dangerous for America. The Left, and by extension the Democratic Party, in what has become an international battle royale for energy, prefer to surrender our arms and engines...

Before you read this, I would prefer that you listen to the audio for the best experience. It’s better. Also, as a disclaimer, know that I worked with some skilled, professional, and dedicated people in both managed and management. Thanks!

Saved Jobs >>

I remember nodding off in calculus back in high school, and for those of you who draw from recent memory, it is the ultimate critical showcase of educational concepts, unrivaled in juvenile whining over the applicability of the stale rubric. I recall a particular class in which we were studying that there can be no such thing as a negative integer square rooted. The problem presented itself like a Rubik's cube I could not resolve in my mind, even after I left school for the summer...

A Motor City Near You >>

04/12/2009

I have tremendous faith in the American worker, but it seems that as of late, he/she is not at peak performance in a number of ways. It begins in the American education system, which is autocratically inert, inefficient, refuses to accept that better teaching exists outside the system, and genuflects by in large to the Teacher’s Union. But let’s set aside the arguments relating to this and steer them to what we see today in Detroit and nationwide, at the unions that set the blaze and now demand to put the fire out thereafter. Ultimately, unions as they exist today and in their present form, are about control, power, and the riches of hourly dues paid to union executives and lawyers...

Porkzilla from the Age of Change >>

When I was a kid, I was told as I visited the observatory on fieldtrips that people—humans—are unable to fathom the depths of space, the distance between stars, and the sheer enormity of it all. I was also told that a person could count to a billion in about 30-40 years, assuming that they had 24 hours a day to do so. Now try 1 trillion.

Just Answer the Question >>

When I talk about taxes, I often get complicated as to its ins and outs, but I was recently made aware of an emerging documentary about the IRS Tax Code by a modern day muckraker who carries a camera and a microphone. He emphatically asserted to me his wish to make this think piece on the American tax system as impartial as possible, interviewing both Neal Boortz and Noam Chomsky. But he commented that a sizable majority of this documentary’s supporters were in fact Conservatives. That is a sharp uptick from “Sicko” and “Fahrenheit 9/11” and it got me thinking as to why.

The Arsonist Firefighters >>

There are times in hallowed antiquity when the past reflects itself in the present, and as I write this article, I am obliged to share with you the ancient origins of the term “fire sale.”

Gordon Gekko Has Left the Building >>

If there is one thing I hate, it is listening to McCain and Palin devolve into populist rhetoric about “the greed on Wall Street.”

Fact. vs. Fear Itself >>

09/21/2008

“After all there is an element in the readjustment of our financial system more important than currency, more important than gold, and that is the confidence of the people. Confidence and courage are the essentials of success in carrying out our plan. You people must have faith; you must not be stampeded by rumors or guesses. Let us unite in banishing fear. We have provided the machinery to restore our financial system; it is up to you to support and make it work.

Why Gringos Need NAFTA

09/13/2008

In the cult classic movie “Office Space,” protagonist and cubicle slave Peter Gibbons says to his obese hypnotherapist something that summarizes every DNC presidential nominee for the last few decades. Peter summed up his life by saying that every consecutive day is worse than the last, and that just when he thinks that life cannot get worse, the next day takes the taco.

Platforms for Refinement

08/09/2008

“Getting more of something in short supply won’t alleviate pressure!” That has essentially been the Democrats’ new motto in the current energy squeeze. I would not call this crisis yet, though. There are no lines—yet . Good thing Pharaoh had Joseph to tap the grain reserves and not Pelosi.
