Dhimmi-logue >>
05/23/2010
First of all, there is a cartoon and anyone can ask to see it. Below this text is a roll of your feedback regarding its manufacture.
I was absolutely inundated by friends who all had varying opinions on what I should do regarding “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.” The best input came from someone who mentioned that many bloggers have my “widget” on their site, and that I could drag hundreds of unsuspecting bloggers into my bar room brawl.
Explanation: other affiliated conservative bloggers have this "tool" that posts my cartoons to their site INSTANTLY when I publish a new one. It's a direct feed. So it could hit them unaware with an incendiary posting and put them in a world of hurt on my behalf. I can't let that happen, as I prefer a volunteer army over a draft. Yet I cannot let the grievances of worldwide dhimmis go unanswered. So I built an “opt-out.” Since I don’t want it to show up in the widget on other blogs, I will not immediately post it to my site. This will keep the "tool" I just mentioned from plastering it all over other sites without their knowing. Later I will add it to my archives when I create the next cartoon. The next cartoon (after this one) will be what updates on all other sites. This protects all my friends in cyberspace.
The cartoon is drawn in JPEG format. If you want it, send a request to: dwdunaway@gmail.com. Type CARTOON REQUEST.
Here are all of your thoughts below:
.................................................................................................................................
I don't like it when crucifixes are dipped in urine, I don't like things like "Love-Making Jesus," but I'm not going to use "I don't like it" or "It offends my religious faith" as an excuse to shut someone up.
By all means, go ahead and wow us.
Go for it because believe me JC has already been thusly depicted
In honor of Comedy Central thinking poking fun at Jesus is a good time...I say what the hell, go for it!
as much as i want to see it, please hesistate. our current will not protect you or me
go ahead JUST DO IT! Mohammed cannot even be compared with JC.
publish it.....we cant let a bunch of ignorant cretins with an 8th century mentality dictate what we can and cannot do....
Drake, I would not do it at this time. Why open yourself and more importantly your family up to possible reprisals when our government is cowardice? There is bravery and conviction and then there is stupidity. The time for such a move is not right.
June 19 I celebrate my 44th anniversary as a serious student of the martial arts. I am also a disabled Vietnam combat vet and served in 4 Special Forces Groups. I have found that the very best way to avoid ever trying to prove i can handle a crisis is by not instigating one.
You have shown that you are quite a talented satirist and cartoonist and can come up with many hilarious scenes to share and get points made while so doing. If you have any loved ones, then it is totally unfair to them to expose them to possible violence in order to stroke your own ego. A man's first responsibility is to protect his loved ones. Buying good smoke detectors is wise. Building a fire on the living room coffee table and wondering if you can put it out in time is stupid.
You asked for input, and I am honest.
I personally don't think it's a good thing. As you said how would we feel if it was Jesus Christ...my opinion...
I say go for it. People have and do make fun of Christ. Why should Mohammed be held more reverent in a Judeo-Christian society than Christ himself? If our religious figure is subject for humour, then anyone is fair game.
it's about solidarity in the art community, to take away the power behind the death threats against artists by having everyone do it, thus making said threats unenforcable and ultimatley laughable. I'm doing it and I've invited near everyone I know to do it, regardless of artistic skill or lack thereof. I say go for it!
I could not resist! What an opportunity!
you do what your heart tells you to do... you are better then the mainstream pundits... we need you to create political cartoon humor not stupidity cartoon statements.
Well you know Drake you can send us a copy privately. LOL!!! Because I want to see it. LOL! But do not want any harm to come to you...
Drake, do not let anyone put fear into your soul. Stand firm as a patriot and Christian (though I do not know of your religious background so forgive me if I assume). The vermin win if fear is in us. I will be happy to post it for you multiple times on all my pages-hehehe.
Draw the picture you are in America.
I think our JC has a sense of humor but it depends. I think that we should expect some frowns. I would say if it felt good and as you say think JC would like it .....but I dont want you to get hurt.!!
Would I like it if JC was depicted that way? No. But he is in fact he already is on many venues. Ever seen Robot Chicken? It's something I cannot change. However I look at who is this aimed at? And what for? It is aimed at a cult that thinks by making threats of bodily harm they can get anything they want. and they just about have, right up to the most recent south Park cartoon that was later censored. I don't bow to them, or anyone. What do they think of JC? They want to kill us simply for being Christians period. So this is, to me, a way of saying "you don't scare me and I won't not do something because you don't want me too." Your very hesitations are the reason we are doing this. Because they think that their threats will be enough. Not this time.
Frankly, I'm tired of being bullied, threatened and otherwise oppressed by a minority that seeks to control the majority. Actually, I'm more than sick of it. I'd like to leaflet drop the entire ME with pictures of Mohammed.
It's like when you were in school - if you kept running away and cowering from the bully, he'd get off on it and come at you even more aggressively. Beat the crap out of him once and he leaves you alone forever.
Greetings! I love your expressions! God bless you!
People depict my Lord on a cross in a vat of urine and call that art and say that it is protected by the first amendment. Yet, these same people say it's "hate speech" to speak out against Islam or any other religion/lifestyle unless it's Christianity. As far as I'm concerned, if something that we express is truthful, then I don't care what other people have against it, I'm going to express it. So, I would encourage you to express yourself truthfully no matter what the "politically correct" crowd or otherwise says! :)
Keep up the great work!
As long as they don't know where you live or how to find you. The Prophet Mohammed was a pedophile, so......just sayin......
I am really tired of the muslim intimidation....
Drake, Thanks for asking.
While you have the right to do whatever you want, consider the reason why and the fact that many others who automatically display your work on their sites via your script unknowingly could receive also the same repercussions. My sites are kids safe, and I run your cartoon because for the most part tehy are "kids safe" or way above their heads. In general, Christians and Jews do not display God - the Father - as he is a spirit; Christians might display pictures of Christ although none of us knows his true form and we object when someone mocking Christ. As for me, there is enough subject matter to depict in Cartoons and blog articles today especially in this era of Obama and progressive socialism. Just my 2 cents worth.
It's easy for me, sitting in the bowels of a bunker beneath a non-descript building hidden in the deep forest of nowhere to say, "Go for it! Throw caution to the wind and take on the bast******s," but it's another thing for someone to stand in the public square and paint a target on their backside. It isn't my backside that will be attacked . . . choose your way wisely.
I think if you feel compelled to draw him then you should. I mean that's what you do right? But let us not be immobilized by fear... Whose other name is Islam.
Don't let anyone intimidate you, they deserve the level of respect they give to others and nothing ore. Oh, they haven't really been respecting others, they have been KILLING THEM. Did you read the article from Reason Magazine about why they are doing this? I hope you do, and then I hope you draw a picture. This is AMERICA, we don't let people bully us into silence -EVER - at least that's how we were before 0webowmao became president and weren't on his world wide appeasement tour.
Well, do unto other (religions) as you wish done unto you(r) (religion).
I would love to see what you have drawn.
Well my thoughts are this. While I believe that Mohammed was a murderous thug and Islam is straight from the pit of hell, I don't think we advance the cause of Christ by ridiculing or making fun of another's religion. I believe we should write about the false teachings and preach the truth concerning the life of Mohammed and Islam, but ridiculing or intentionally offending others isn't really in the spirit of Christ. While tempting, I would advise against it. Not as an act of cowardliness but as an act of Christianity.
I would stand up and applaud you for publishing what you have drawn! However, I certainly would not want anyone to threaten you over it. Either way, I'm saying a prayer for you, for all of us, right now.
As much as i would love to put it in their face, i'm going to go by the Golden Rule.
It is not worth it.
Jesus told us that the if the world hates us, remember it hated Him first. So when we, as Christians, see drawings of Christ depicted negatively or in in an attempt to debase Him, we already know that this is par for the course. It may not be easy to swallow and we may feel outraged, but in the end we know and trust in the Word of God.
Unfortunately, Muslims extremists don't have the capacity to control their outrage. Islam is not about "turning the other cheek" and seems to be more about snuffing out everyone who disagrees with them. So, unless you want to be like that Dutch cartoonist who has constant assassination attempts on his life, I implore you to bury the idea and seek out another angle.
Will the Gospel be spread by your cartoon? Will our first amendment rights be bolstered by it?
What does your conscience say?
Dude, I took a look at the FB page that caused Pakistan to ban FB, the "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day" page, and it was disgraceful, i mean i'm not Muslim, proud Baptist infact, but all i have to say is as long as it isnt Mohammad eating a d***, if you saw the page you know what i mean, then go for it. Actually, you could prob get a really awesome toon depicting those protesters in Pakistan protesting FB. not going to lie, i saw that on yahoo and heard how fast Pakistan banned the site, i busted out laughing while at work. Just goes to show you what happens when a free thinking society and a lock and key society butts heads.
I say just throw caution to the wind. EVERYONE "blasphemes" in the case of Jesus. We canNOT afford to play into the hands of the Muslims. Draw away and publish, publish, publish. This PC crap will kill us all.
Don't do it!!! Fame is not worth the cost of your life (that is my heart speaking)..........
(this is my head talking)
Unless 1.- you do not have a physical published address
2.- your Name is a fictitious name
3.- speak with Andrew Breitbard or GB about it first and get a real good Lawyer, they will give you a better sense of what to do....... you might be safe who knows even famous........LOL
Radical Muslims tend to be like elephants, they do not forget, so do you really want to be looking over your shoulder the rest of your life?
I say do it. It's almost assuredly a win-win: For one, it is the right thing to do to defy the pc censorship that threatens our republic. It's like signing the Declaration. But also (in a more weasely way) the chances that you'll end up like Theo Van Gogh are very minimal and thus you look brave and heroic without actually being in real danger (just consider Salman Rushdie.) As a filmmaker, I do have future projects that I'm sure will inspire a fatwa or two; and I do ponder the the Muslim threat. But the price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
What's the big deal to draw a person? He is not god. The more people draw him, the more non-taboo becomes. It's sad that the 'religion of peace' followers are willing to kill for this, but again they will find any reason to kill. At the end of the day, they get Mohammad's message for the infidels very clear.
I have mixed feelings too. One side says "Jesus said turn the other cheek." The other side says, "They (not just muslims) horribly depict Christ everyday with lies and pictures - so why not pick back?"
I don't draw for a living, so I got no dog in the fight. It should not be censored - pix of Mohamed, imho. If it is offensive, then stop beheading folks which is a bit more offensive then ink and paper, imho.
Big decision. I like your plan. Blitzing is nice. Maybe by the sheer numbers they will be overwhelmed. Of course they may just try to blow up a city or something. I don't know. Ultimately we should not cow to them. They need to be exposed for what they are. God be with you.
I drew a respectful image based on a photo of Omar Sharif in Lawrence of Arabia. One doesn't have to be crass about it.
Do have want a death wish?
