Hate Mail: Part Deux >>

01/31/2010

Well here is a rehash of the responses I got for last week’s critical article of Ron Paul, so this posting is nothing more than the outgrowth. While I expected an outpouring of scorn (as such a thing comes with criticizing cherished figures), I must say I was happily surprised. I had expected more acidic language to refute my article. Most of you practiced admirable restraint, and for that you have a tip o’ the hat. So perhaps calling this "hate mail" doesn't do it justice. Although I had quite a few people support me, I decided to refrain from posting the positive, as love mail is not really that entertaining… sort of like a “love crime” versus a “hate crime.” The first you never see, and the latter always seems to get videotaped from a safe distance.

And no, I don’t “hate” Ron Paul as a person. I think that Mr. Paul would be a good guy to have a beer with, I just feel that it bodes ill when a conservative gets MoveOn.org puff pieces all the time. To his credit, I like his economics, his push to dismantle the Federal Reserve, and his general drive towards liberty. If he were only directed at a focused set of economic goals, I could support him 100%. I know he’s not as crazy as people make him out to be. But from time to time he lets one rip, rocketing himself out of my trust galaxy, eg: “we need to take out the CIA.” I wish he would just focus on ending the Fed and get more people behind him to that end, as Eric Holder is already doing a fine job of dismantling the CIA on his own stead.

...............................................................................................................................................

Ron Paul folks are very thoughtful and passionate people, judging by the voluminous replies they give. I do respect that. And many of them have political affiliations that end with the suffix “archist” listed on their FB profiles. Why they insist on doing that I have no idea. I guess it takes all kinds. : )

But I got a lot out of this feedback. No, not lessons learned or changes in attitude. I didn’t learn a damn thing. It’s just nice to harvest the most acerbic mail so that I don’t have to write a real article.

And know that I still love all you guys. After all, my Amero-Zionist Jesus tells me to.

Enjoy, my L’tarian cousins:

The more I hear views like yours the more I realize that the only hope for this country to not go the way of all great empires is for Americans to wake up and listen to those such as Ron Paul who are informed of what's really going on in the world. You should give up your futile hope of a partisan, principle-sacrificing Republican party somehow getting us off the path to train wreck. Even the most ideal domestic economic policies wouldn't salvage our country from our corrupt, statist, and unsustainable foreign policy complex. The only solution is for people to be informed of the truth.

Who owns the media? Who brainwashes the masses of Americans? Who believes it is ok to kill anyone who is a non-jew? I have never seen so much Political Zionist propaganda in my entire life as the comments typed on this page.

How many more decades are you planning on insisting that you are right and people like Paul are wrong? He's at least being sensible about the moral, economic and constitutional limits of these disasters; you seem not to want to grasp any of these factors. But you do so to every American's detriment...

I'll second Will Bergs comments. You're no history professor. I'm quite confident in the Constitution. We need Congress to declare war, and terrorists are best dealt with the letters of marquee and reprisal. A worldwide witch hunt with thousands of innocents caught in the crosshairs is not what will make this world a safer place.

On second thought...just looked through some of your cartoons...
nevermind on my last comment

Nice history lesson. Not a very good opinion without knowing all the facts.
Suggestion:
Look at US History dealing with Rogue enemies, Pirates and Terrorist Groups.
With all due respect you apparently know nothing about Ron Paul's Conservative and Constitutional Legislative Push with regard to dealing with Terrorist Groups of 911.

Tripe... total tripe. Study after study has revealed that Americas interventionist policies are the source of most of the motive for Islamic extremism. Please... do some research.

....................One more email...........................................................................

The final email is a positive one, which I have added as token/olive branch to my anti-fed comrades in the Libertarian Party. It comes from Mr. Jeff Crow, and I put it up at his behest to demonstrate what we have in common, and that Libertarians, like Republicans, come in lots of flavors. So to all who say Libertarians and Republicans cannot get along, you will have to eat crow. Punny.

Yo Drake, it's not fair to criticize you the way some of these people did. Not only are they a bad reflection on a good guy, Ron Paul, but they forgot that you clearly stated you have some views that are in line with him, and some that you don't follow.

That merely show's you're a "thinking person" bro, whereas people who don't examine each thing someone says nor do they have at least one area they disagree with that person, is a follower who allows someone else to think for them.

I congratulate you for what you're doing. I support Ron Paul, but I view you as someone with courage for standing up for who you are and not allowing yourself to be defined by others. You're a brethren in arms and a patriot to this country and it's foundations.

What a lot of these folks don't take into consideration is that the Republican Party is a coalition movement. We won't win a damn thing against the ever present socialist movement with in the Democrat Party if we don't run independent Republicans in certain areas, Ron Paul Republicans in others, Hawkish Republicans in other areas, etc.

The fact is, we need as many Republicans as we can get to win so that everyone can enjoy at least one slice of the pie, otherwise we ALL don't get a thing. Like our Founding Fathers said, "We either win together as Patriots fighting against oppression and tyranny or we hang together for treason".

Too many "purists" of any ideology with in our party have this "all or nothing" mentality and usually those that ask for it all tend to get absolutely nothing.

Jeff Crow

(Perhaps you should put up some of the non-hate mail like this one, I'd gladly go to bat for you bro). By all means, put this up.

Dear Friend Drake,

Don't drown your youth in the quicksand of anger, and one track minds. Ask your dad and he will tell you no one can be rational when angry, you are entitled to your opinions however you should lend an ear to other's too.

If any body has views different then yours, he / she does not become your enemy at all.

You are a friend so after reading your blog I decided to send you a message that I am sad to see that you are spending your time and waisting your energy getting angry in a pool of politics which will bring you nothing good in life but frustration. Please focus on your life, achieve your goals to be successful in life and keep this blog biz as a hobby.

I love how these people try and talk down to you, as if they are formally educated. Where did they get their information, "Wikipedia"?

They sound like the same type of people that would blame a women for getting raped because she wore something slightly revealing.

Is anyone else besides me tired of smug self-righteous babble that always seems to end with ". . . do some research?" Where does that guy get his information, Al-Jazeera or MSNBC?
by Ryan on 01.31.2010 11:53 AM

I'm not so sure about the idea of "having a beer with Ron Paul", I like to drink with people I can depend on when the bar fight breaks out, Ron "Fievel the mouse" Paul just doesn't come across the same as Jesse Ventura (who I also wouldn't want to drink with as the bar fight would inevitably be between the two of us once he started talking in all cap's)...

As for the "Sensible-Morality" of the Ron Paul supporter I have to look no further than the National-Socialist site StormFront.Org to see just what kind of moral superiority that is. After several years of watching and engaging this ship of fools lost in space it has become quite obvious that the Paulians, Venturaphiles and Jonesites never bat an eye at the constant barrage of comments from their base claiming "IT'S THE JEWS AND EVIL ZIONISTS THAT COMMITTED THE 9/11 ATTACKS!!!"... and I highly suspect these same individuals would not be so isolationist or anti-interventionist if it were being proposed that we instead attack Israel?

Where's the link to Will Berg's cartoon and history lesson website?
