Pre-Traumatic Terrorism >>

11/24/2009

On November 5, 2009, Major Nidal Malik Hasan stormed into Fort Hood Military Base, gunning down and killing 13 of his fellow soldiers and injuring 30 more. Witnesses claim he shrieked: “Allah hu Akbar!” in his frenzy while carrying out his cowardly and dastardly attack on un-deployed soldiers in their off hours.

The newsflash hit me before the man’s identity or nature of attack could be ascertained, as I was sitting on my couch watching Shep Smith deliver the news while interviewing Senator Kay Bailey Hutcheson about the ordeal. He then mentioned that they just “got a name,” quipping that the nature of the name itself seemed to kick in a whole new element that seemed to fit the situation very aptly. We later learned that the notorious Major and self-described “soldier of Allah” was admonished for trying to convert in the barracks, celebrated the shooting of a recruitment officer in Arkansas this year, and he even filed bogus harassment charges claiming persecution on behalf of his faith.

Subsequent to his vile act of domestic terrorism, we have learned that Major Nidal Malik Hasan had connections with radical Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Aulaqi, discussed beheading the infidels openly to fellow co-workers, and had been wiring cash to Pakistan. Leftist political correctness is a cult that requires blood sacrifice, and in this case 13 innocent.

Ruminating on all this, it doesn’t take rocket science to figure out what this was. This was a planned, calculated, and cold-blooded act of domestic terrorism, and the first to occur on our soil since 9/11. Now if we are brutally honest, it is the first of its sort to occur in the past 8-years since 9/11 -- the time without incident that President Obama normally trashes while claiming Gitmo was making us less safe somehow. The first attack in nearly a decade is not what he needs politically; we can all agree on that. So the MSM will whitewash this story, and I wonder how many recurrences will force them into submission to reality. Now in fairness to our daily teleprompter, I will not say that he is directly responsible for this act in the way the New York Times seems to think G.W. Bush flew to Abu Gharib and told soldiers to haze detainees. It’s not easy to pin a particular misdeed to the top of the chain of command; it only works for consistent patterns of behavior. The actions that do bother me are President Obama’s policy shifts in the past year:

  • Apologizing to the world for the failings of America.
  • Talking to Iran for the sake of talking, as an end and not a means.
  • Promising to ramp up the pressure on Iran vis-à-vis securing Russia’s cooperation by scrapping our allies’ missile defense shield. Payoff yet? Nope.
  • Claiming in Cairo that America could be considered a “Muslim nation,” while averring in 2006 that it is not a Christian one.
  • Unleashing the US Department of Justice onto the CIA.
  • Waffling on Afghanistan, a war that he sold to America as a righteous foil to Iraq.
  • Supporting a constitutionally-ousted caudillo in Honduras.
  • Giving OJ Simpson’s pulpit of sensationalized show trials for terrorists to voice themselves to their brothers in arms.
  • Giving terrorists our prisons, and captive audiences to convert and radicalize as they do in so many other nations.

Across the Atlantic, just a few days ago, the Spanish Socialist Prime Minister Jose Zapatero responded to Somali pirates by conceding and paying out the 3.3 million dollar demands to release the 36-member crew aboard the captured Spanish trawler “Alakrana.” 3 million reasons to plunder and pillage on the high seas, you might say. This adds to the disgrace of the Spanish people’s mounting decade of international cowardice. The 3/11 Madrid bombings of 2004 vastly shifted the election in favor of the Socialist Party, which promised to disengage from Iraq and thought to purchase the safety of their people by overt submission to terrorism. I’ll bet that they never bargained that the Iraq pullout was just a down payment, in what would be a series of continual installments to ransom their safety from the Kalashnikovs of this world. This act of political spinelessness announced itself to foreign threats like a digital price ticker, quantifying our principles in monetary sums, on a stock exchange where human lives are commodities and upright nations barter for what is already theirs. Those securities will perpetually rise in asking price as we devalue our dignity… and our dollar.

Now on the New York showtrial question, Charles Krauthammer laid the law down when he noted that the same Crats who have been snobbishly bloviating about “our endangered values, rule of law, and "fair trials” are the same ones under Atty. Gen. Eric Holder who are guaranteeing a conviction for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed before the trial even commences. Is that due process? Or is it simply that the Liberals have used this as a club against Bush and now have to own the stance by conducting a stacked showtrial? Crats can spare me their hypocritical moralizing. And if the jury is hung on account of evidence obtained on battlefields or under duress being stricken from the proceedings (was Khalid Sheik Mohammed mirandized when he was nabbed in a pre-dawn raid in Pakistan?), do you think President Obama will allow for these masters of chaos to just walk? Of course not! Regardless of the verdict, they will be incarcerated for the rest of their natural lives and buried in secret. The DNC party ideologicals of the ACLU should realize this for what it is, as they come tumbling off their moral highgrounds.

More frightening still is the damage these men could do in prison populations eager for purpose and full of spite, or the harm they could inflict if released by due process under what Obama misperceives as “the letter of the law.” Sorry Mr. President, but that’s a dumb idea and you’re a stupid person for thinking it!

These characters are not bankrobbers, and they march under no flag or nation as Geneva would provide; many have never set foot on our soil and most are not citizens. Little by little, the screaming left, thrashing and overgrown in their childseats as they barrel down perdition’s highway, are learning that such unreasoning killers exist deep within a legal void. Step by step, the immature Left is awakening to the fact that the moral and legal intricacies and challenges of the Bush years will not vanish when he is gone, and that perhaps Obama has been duplicating some of his predecessor’s efforts for a reason, albeit noncommittally.

So, summon Johnny Cochran on the Ouija board, rekindle the showtrial spirit, and combine it with the powderkeg soapbox of terrorist agitprop slathered in newsnight glitz…let’s see how combustible the combination becomes. >>
